This page centralizes the most common questions and issues encountered when using Adsroid MCP, so you don’t have to search across every article to find them.
Connection & Setup
The connection fails when I enter my API key.
Double-check your API key for extra spaces or missing characters. If the issue persists, go to Settings → API Keys in your Adsroid dashboard and generate a new key (see Connect Adsroid MCP to Claude.ai).
Claude shows the integration as connected, but no tools are available.
Disconnect and reconnect the integration. If the problem continues, confirm your Adsroid account is active and that your API key hasn’t been revoked.
Claude is connected, but a tool call returns an error.
This is almost always a adsroid_project_id mismatch — the project referenced doesn’t exist in your workspace, or was misspelled. Ask Claude to list your projects first, then use the exact name in your next request (see Understanding Projects).
Projects & Business Context
Claude asks me which project to use every time — can I skip this?
If you only manage one client, Claude should select it automatically without asking. If you manage several, naming the client directly in your prompt (e.g., “for Client Dupont…”) lets Claude resolve the project without asking. See Understanding Projects.
Claude’s recommendations don’t feel aligned with my business.
This usually means your project’s Business Context — offer, positioning, audience, USPs, pain points — is incomplete or outdated in Adsroid. Update it in your project settings; recommendation quality depends directly on it.
I manage multiple clients — can data from one client get mixed up with another’s?
No, each tool call is scoped to a specific project_id, so a client’s data is always correctly attributed and never confused with another’s, even when you’re comparing multiple clients in the same conversation (see Get a Unified Cross-Platform Performance Report for an example of intentionally querying more than one account). The isolation is about accuracy and correct attribution, not about restricting you to one client per conversation — you can absolutely ask Claude to check or compare several clients at once, as long as you’re clear about which client each part of your request refers to.
Actions & Write Permissions
Does Claude ask for confirmation before making a change?
Yes. Any write action Claude wants to perform is passed through Claude.ai’s own MCP tool confirmation step — you’ll see exactly which tool Claude wants to call and with what parameters, and you need to explicitly approve it before the action is executed. Nothing is applied to your account silently.
A campaign or ad I asked Claude to create isn’t live.
This is expected — new campaigns, ad sets, and ads are created in PAUSED status by default, specifically so you can review before anything goes live. Ask Claude to activate it once you’ve checked it.
I asked Claude to change something on the wrong client’s account.
Always name the client or project explicitly in write-action requests, especially in longer conversations spanning multiple clients. If a mistake happens, most actions are reversible (see the reversibility table in How Write Actions Work) — pausing, re-enabling, or removing a negative keyword can all be undone.
Performance Data
The metrics Claude gives me don’t match what I see in Google Ads / Meta Ads Manager.
Check that the date range matches exactly — small mismatches in start/end dates are the most common cause. If numbers still don’t align, ask Claude to specify exactly which metric definition it used (e.g., “conversions” vs. “all conversions” in Google Ads can differ).
Claude says a metric or breakdown isn’t available.
Some breakdowns depend on data being present for the selected period (e.g., a device or geo breakdown with very low traffic may return limited results). Try a longer date range.
Multi-Platform
How does Claude know if I mean Google Ads or Meta Ads?
By the platform you name, the terminology you use (ad group vs. ad set), or the specific campaign/asset you reference. If your request could apply to either and both are connected, Claude will ask (see Multi-Platform: How Claude Knows Which Platform to Use).
